I was born in Sheffield and educated at King Edward VII School, Sheffield and following A- levels and a chance visit to the careers office in Sheffield I ended up studying for a part-time B.Sc. degree in urban estate Surveying at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham which was a five-year degree course studied one day a week.
As the name suggests, this was back in the day before ‘Trent Poly’ became Nottingham Trent University and I will soon celebrate 40 years in the profession.
I am married with two married daughters and two wonderful granddaughters to keep me on my toes. It is just as well that I have embarked on yet another diet and fitness routine to try to keep up with them.
Apart from my family, my pleasures in life are spending a couple of hours in my shed trying to ‘engineer solutions’, trying to get more or less half reasonable at riding a speedway bike and going on long walks with our Cavalier King Charles pup, Bentley.
In my professional life, I have always tried to do my best for Clients. We try to do things better, promptly, give great Value and make everybody feel Valued. We hope that the work that we produce for Clients is what they always hoped and believed that they had the right to receive from a firm of Surveyors.
I’m very proud of my colleagues. I believe we do a great job in our own way but most of all we don’t take ourselves too seriously and try to enjoy our work and impart that enjoyment to everybody around us.

I am a co-Director at Ashmore Surveyors and I grew up in Earl Shilton and Barwell, the youngest of five siblings and step-siblings. I completed my GCSE’s and A-levels at John Cleveland College in Hinckley, before moving to Stoke-on-Trent to study Chemistry and Maths for my Undergraduate Degree at Keele University.
Since leaving University, I have completed a remote Masters Degree in Surveying (Real Estate) from Northumbria University and I am now a Chartered Surveyor and RICS Registered Valuer.
I grew up with property in the blood as my parents have owned an Estate Agency since I was 14 years old, sparking my interest in housing. I am married and recently became a father for the first time. We share our home with our cat Peanut and Springer Spaniel Kylo.
Outside of work, I have an interest in sports, mainly football but I am also a big fan of American sports, both basketball and NFL. I enjoy watching NFL games at Wembley and have been to watch NBA games when they were previously hosted in London. My true love is of Leicester City, however.
I enjoy working at Ashmore Surveyors, it has been great to initially learn from, and now work alongside Mike as co-Directors. The working atmosphere at Ashmore Surveyors is always a lot of fun, we work hard and are a good team, but we can also have a laugh, which makes the days more enjoyable.
Louise Jones

I’m Lou, and I am originally from Sale in Manchester and moved to Nuneaton in August 1990. I met my husband 26 years ago and we have been married for 22 years, we have 2 wonderful sons and more recently a grandson has joined the clan.
I love animals. I currently have 4 pets (3 cats and a rabbit) although the rabbit thinks he’s a cat too! I have a keen interest in cars and attend regular car shows including classic cars as we have a 1975 Triumph Spitfire that my husband has owned for 32 years.
I love boats and go on regular boating holidays or boating days out, either on the Norfolk Broads or the local canals, where I am happy to be at the Helm of the inland cruisers and narrow boats.
I also enjoy a spot of cycling especially if we can get a cheeky pub stop in along the way!
I’m really looking forward to growing with the Firm, and we all seem to share a similar sense of humour which certainly makes the day go quicker.

I am Lizzie Barson, remote administrator for Ashmore Surveyors.
I have worked for the company since October 2020 and I've loved every minute.
I have grown up learning about property and assisting my dad, Mike Cowley on surveys from the age of 4.
As a little girl, I always wanted to become a Surveyor like my dad and now having a family of my own, working in the background allows me to work around my family and still get to enjoy working in the property sector.
I am a mother of two. I have a little girl called Evelyn and a teenage stepson called Dorian. I am married to my husband Chris and we have a Cockapoo called Asher.
I run a little business alongside doing crafting, personalised products, stickers, decals, T-shirts, cake toppers and much more and between the two it keeps me very busy!
